When these vertebrae start pressing on the nerves in our spinal cord, this narrowing begins.

Spinal stenosis is most commonly caused by osteoarthritis due to the changes it causes to the spine. Symptoms of spinal stenosis include: pain or numbness in the legs, trouble controlling bladder and bowel function, a burning sensation down the legs, loss of sensation to the feet or lower extremities, loss of sexual drive, or difficulty walking for long periods of time and distance.

Spinal stenosis can be diagnosed through a variety of tests such as x-rays, CT or MRI scans, bone scans, EMG or myelograms.
